Bridge to the Doctorate
As institutional and program collaborators since 1999, H-LSAMP was designated as a senior alliance in 2009. While continuing our undergraduate emphasis on recruiting, training, and graduating top students, our alliance now includes a Bridge to the Doctorate (BTD) program. Housed at the University of Houston as our lead institution, the UH Bridge to the Doctorate is an outstanding, value-added component of the LSAMP program.
BTD programs provide sizable funding to former LSAMP students pursuing doctoral degrees in STEM fields, with a particular focus on increasing the number of underrepresented and minority students who obtain doctoral degrees. Bridge to the Doctorate programs typically provide a $30,000 to $45,000 annual stipend and fully cover tuition and fees. BTD funding is competitive, and graduate program eligibility/admission/selection criteria are unique to each institution.
