Fulbright Scholar Program Opportunities in STEM Fields

The Fulbright Scholar Program sponsored by the United States Department of State, it lists among its alumni the largest number of Nobel Prize laureates of any educational program in the world.

Each year it sponsors the research and teaching activities of approximately 1200 American scholars and professionals in more than 125 countries abroad. The American grantees come from 400-500 different institutions across the country. Fulbright also welcomes to the United States more than 800 scholars from around the world to conduct research and to teach in American universities, colleges, institutes and laboratories.

Every year, using various media, the Fulbright Scholar Program reaches out to academics and practitioners in all fields of academic endeavor to emphasize its interest in their participation. One persistent bit of Fulbright “mythology” is that the program is not interested in applicants in the sciences. Whether referred to as STEM fields, the hard and the applied sciences, biology, physics or earth sciences, all science disciplines have been and continue to be welcome.
